Borrowing Limits
For new library card holders one item is allowed to be checked out at a time, until your 30 day probation period is up. Once patrons probation period is up, patrons can check out up to 5 materials for a two week period. Patrons can also check out 15 paperback books total for a two week period.
Placing Holds
Patrons can search the Library Collection from our website or in the Library to determine if that item is checked out or not within the collection. You can either call or come by the Library to place a hold on any title except those in the Reference Collection. This information will be entered into our computer system and when the title comes available it will be tagged with a print out and stored at the Circulation Desk. The Library Staff will call or email you to let you know that the item you reserved is available for pick-up. Once the item on hold comes available and you are notified you have 3 days to checkout that item, or the item goes back into circulation.
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
Patrons may checkout materials for the standard checkout time of 14 days (excluding videocassettes and DVD's). Materials may then be renewed one time for an additional 14 days. If the materials are not returned by the due date assigned fines will begin to accrue. Overdue books cannot be renewed until the fine is paid.
Library Fines
Library fines accrue at .25 a day until the material is returned or the total fine is equal to the cost of the material. Fines for DVD's are $1.00 a day. Replacement costs for a lost item may include an added processing fee.
When you become a library cardholder you agree to be responsible for all library materials, fines and replacement charges. The cardholder also agrees to observe library policies and procedures.
Library materials belong to the City of Groesbeck; the city may take civil action against patrons on delinquent list. Library materials may be picked up by a library representative.
Parents and legal guardians will be held responsible for any materials checked out by their children.
